![]() Less porn-centric VNs could still benefit from the full potential of Steam exposure, while the adult content DLC would be free to download for everyone interested without the current kind of cryptic BS. Plus, it seems that all-ages + patch might still be a viable option, circumventing the "adult-only" categorization, but letting you place the 18+ patch as DLC directly on the platform. There will be a significant transition period, but I'd expect A LOT of people having 18+ content turned on after its over. I agree with the option being hidden God-knows-where, but if I remember well searches and clicking links to 18+ games give proper feedback ("we've hidden an n-number of games because of your search preferences"). The settings to enable seeing this content are off by default and pretty difficult to find, and if you don't have those settings enabled, Steam literally gives you a "that doesn't exist" page, not like an "are you sure you want to see this content" page, as far as I understand. but yeah, we unfortunately live in a very absurd world, otherwise we wouldn't even be talking about this.ĭamn, now you actually got me concerned as well. There are far more concerning topics that should be addressed instead of persecuting fiction. Then let's ban pretty much every video game ever. It's really stupid, because stating that a depiction of an illegal sexual relationship is a crime is equivalent to saying that a depiction of a murder should be illegal. So, in the end, I'm mostly just worried that I'm personally going to lose access to getting VNs legally rather that that it's going to bring some major problems. VNs probably exist because the industry is so small that nobody even knows about them, so the more exposure they get, the bigger is the possibility that they are going to be noticed by those who shouldn't notice them. Actually, in my country hentai is illegal for exactly the same reason, and quite a lot of sites that give access to it are IP-blocked. ![]() Technically, most 18+ VNs are set in high-schools, so the characters are supposed to be underage, even if they look like adults or it's explicitly said otherwise, so technically the whole VN industry lies in a somewhat legally gray area, especially in more conservative countries. This edition of Negligee is completely uncensored and includes adult yuri (lesbian) content, nudity as well as scenes and dialogue of a suggestive, sexual and explicit nature. I'm also a bit concerned with a certain other detail. ![]() Basically, I wanted to say, in an extreme situation that somebody decides to put Euphoria-like VN on Steam and it causes some mass freakout, the result could be pretty unpredictable, but, I guess, the possibility of that is very low. As a company, allowing VNs with adult content, considering they are for better or worse the majority of them, is hardly a bad business decision. ![]()
